The key to an active and engaged Board of Directors is to leverage the talent of your board members, while maximizing their available time. Ensure your board understands your needs as an organization, their roles and responsibilities. We will discuss the difficult conversations around prioritizing recruitment, clarifying expectations, and most importantly, around fundraising and giving. Eliminate difficult board member behavior and streamline meetings.

Presented by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County, and led by the Catalyst Center for Nonprofit Management, Leaders on Board provides a six-week interactive training program that covers the topics needed to be prepared to serve on a nonprofit board of directors.

According to BoardSource, serving on a nonprofit board of directors is a powerful way to grow personal and build professional expertise. Individuals who serve on a board have the opportunity to cultivate new skill sets as leaders. Through their service, they also expand their network of peers, professionals, community leaders, and thought leaders, which provides new avenues for development, outreach, influence, and mentorship.

Upon completing the program, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and have the opportunity to meet with area nonprofit executives to look for a potential board match. In addition, a board mentoring option allows those completing the program to continue to seek advice and support.

Topics to be covered in the six-week interactive training program include:

  • Basic Governance – Role of the Board/Vital Role of Engagement – CEO & Board
  • Understanding Strategic Planning
  • Fundamentals of Fundraising for Boards
  • Financial Oversight for Boards
  • Measuring Impact and Outcomes
  • Finding the Right Fit

Members and nonmembers are welcome.    For more information contact info@chambergmc.org
